A set of music based on the latest absurdity to emerge from Washington, 'Space Force' makes up the entire third set on this weeks TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (Episode #281). In other parts of today's show legendary jazz luminaries JOHN COLTRANE and MILES DAVIS each contribute a piece from their new reissues. From John Coltrane you'll hear a cut from his never before released 'Both Directions At Once – The Lost Album' and from Miles Davis it's a piece from the remastered recording of the 'Ascensuer Pour L'Echafaud' film score.

That is followed by Guru Guru's MANI NEUMEIRER and sidekick PETER HOLLINGER Balinese rhythm’s before SHADOWFAX adds their signature to the sets completion.

You're in luck! It's not all bad on Friday the 13th as my latest TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (Episode #276) debuts. No black cats or sidewalk cracks, instead I'll start the show with THE NUMBERS BAND (15-60-75) and their song 'Thunderhead' and follow it with a cut from GARY NUMAN'S latest, then add the ethereal sound of ISSA BAGAYOGO'S 'N'goni' (Mali lute). Next up there's XTC doing 'Cynical Days,' and a MILES DAVIS (with the GIL EVANS ORCHESTRA) piece before completing the set with a traditional Italian folk song by SPACCANAPOLI.
Later on you'll hear two great versions of the Soft Machine song 'Dedicated to You But You Weren't Listening' done by MONKS OF DOOM and the DELTA SAXOPHONE QUARTET in a set that has WENDY CARLOS'S 'Counrty Lane' and THE FLAMING LIPS'S obscure version of 'If I Only Had A Brain' in it as well. There's a ragtime version of Roxy Music's 'The Bogus Man' done by THE BRYAN FERRY ORCHESTRA and THE TRASHMEN play 'Bird Dance Beat' ('Pow Pow Ohh Mow Mow') back to back in another set that has RY COODER, PETER GABRIEL, and MAGAZINE all blended together.
It's another three hours of freeform fun that should make your day! Now don't you feel lucky?

Psychedelic, folky, jazzy, new wavy, ...yeah this weeks TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (Episode #275) is all that and more (with plenty of NEW releases to boot)!
Each set evolves in a completely different manner as today's third set typifies. I'll start that one with the KRONOS QUARTET'S latest, then move towards acid folk with the LOW ANTHEM, THE GHOST OF A SABER TOOTH TIGER, and SAMANDTHEPLANTS before emerging with psychedelic stalwarts ULTIMATE SPINACH. What follows is a CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN instrumental and a SYD BARRETT melody before finishing it all off with RAHSAAN ROLAND KIRK'S 'Serenade to a Cuckoo.'
NEW songs are heard from ARTHUR BUCK, WOODEN SHJIPS, THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS, JOHN MCLAUGHLIN & THE 4TH DIMENSION, JON HASSELL, PARQUET COURTS, and GARY NUMAN. You'll also get older tracks from R. CRUMB & HIS CHEAP SUIT SERENADERS, PETER HAMMILL, KLAATU, STEELEYE SPAN, THE DANDY WARHOLS, and LITTLE FEAT.

As the Independence Day holiday approaches, I'll incorporate several songs on this weeks TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (Episode #274) that strike the appropriate tone but won't overwhelm the shows flow. You'll hear THE RESIDENTS unusual version of 'Stars & Stripes Forever,' WILCO'S 'Ashes of American Flags,' NEIL YOUNG'S rendition of 'This Land Is Your Land,' and another standard from JOE BYRD'S 'Yankee Transcendoodle' album during the first half of the program.
There's plenty of other regular selections played including several from the latest offerings by GARY NUMAN , STEPHEN MALKMUS & THE JICKS, TONY ALLEN, WOODEN SHJIPS, RY COODER, and ARTHUR BUCK (Joseph Arthur & Peter Buck). I'll also spin music from THE CHOCOLATE WATCH BAND, HARRY PARTCH, AMY RIGBY, VANGELIS, DEVO, TRANQUILITY BASS, and the late GEOFFREY ORYEMA.

This weeks TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (Episode #273) represents some of my best work in blending the diverse musical styles that give the freeform radio format it's name. I'm extremely proud of how each set unfolds, its flow, and the programs unique overall sound.
During the second set there's Indian based melodies that emerge from ANANDA SHANKAR, TRAFFIC, and HIERONYMUS FIREBRAIN which then evolve into early synthesizer inspired pieces from DER PLAN and SILVER APPLES before the tempo shifts to guitar based rhythm's from SNAKEFINGER, FATOUMATA DIAWARA, and THE CLASH.
NEW album cuts are played from THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE, MORCHEEBA, DAVE HOLLAND, THE BRAD MEHLDAU TRIO, PAUL SIMON'S 'Graceland Remixes,' and THOMAS BARTLETT & NICO MUHLY'S 'Balinese Ceremonial Music' release. As usual, there's plenty of selections from the musical 'vault' including those from KING CRIMSON, JIMMY SMITH, T. REX, SALVATION, ART ZOYD, JOHN ENTWHISTLE, and HAWKLORDS.
From Psychedelic to Latin, Middle Eastern, Ragtime and beyond, this shows breadth make it one to listen to over and over.

Another week brings yet another new episode of TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (Episode #272). What could possibly be different from the last one, you ask? Well, nothing...and everything. Akron artist JOSH STONE has a NEW song ('Bubbles In Space – the Magic Mix') and I've added it to a set with a few other space themed songs from DUKES OF STRATOSPHEAR, BE BOP DELUXE, and DEERHOOF. There's NEW music from RY COODER, JACK WHITE, FATOUMATA DIAWARA, and a couple of cuts from ALEXANDRE DESPLAT'S 'Isle of Dogs' soundtrack.
There's a set based loosely around the recent summit that includes music from OSAMU KITAJIMA, Korean space metal band JAMBINAI, dialogue from the movie 'Dr. Strangelove, and songs from MINISTRY and the JEFFERSON AIRPLANE. JOHN PRINE sings 'Caravan of Fools' from his latest, and the set finishes with jazz sax master OLIVER LAKE and Finnish guitarist JUKKA TOLONEN who both make appearances from the music 'vault.'
There is music from RALPH CARNEY, TALL DWARFS, THE ART OF NOISE, IMOGEN HEAP, MAYO THOMPSON, and HECTOR ZAZOU included on today's show as well. It works for me so hopefully it'll work for you.
A journey beyond conventional radio boundaries with host Paul Ciminero.
Each week I'll blend various styles of music, (psychedelic, electronica, progressive, jazz, rock, alternative, old fashioned, folk, blues, classical, experimental, ect.) into seamless segues and cohesive sets.
Throughout the program you will hear a selection of new releases coupled with choice rarities from the "musical vault." All of these elements will be mixed occasionally with spoken word, comedy, and movie and TV dialogue into a set with a particular theme or left alone on their own merits.
